THE BARN NOW

Boutique self-catering accommodation for couples... and their dogs.
PEMBRIDGE

If you've found this site then you may know Pembridge already and what it offers. You can walk... You can visit old English pubs... You can roam the black & white village trail. It's a base for loads of other places. Be bold. Explore. Or do nothing because you are on holiday and that's OK.

creature comforts

Your home away from home is intended to help you relax and unwind. From fluffy towels and high thread-count bedlinen to just sitting outside and taking in the quiet of the garden. However, for those rainy days or times when you just feel like doing nothing, there's books and board-games to enjoy while sitting by the wood-burner.

the garden

Feel free to sit out in the garden wherever you like. You may spot a red kite overhead, or hear the jackdaws convening for the evening. Or see me, struggling with the weeds. Or find me with wine, having given up on the weeding.

house and barn

I live in the main house, which is connected to the barn. I'll leave you to your privacy but am usually around for local tips or maybe you've forgotten to bring something. Maybe you need more pots, pans, or want to create a flourish in the kitchen, I've probably got what you need in the main house. Also, the barn is in two parts: above the garage is my home office which is part of the same barn building but not connected to the guest accommodation. Just so you know.

dirty laundry

There is a washer and a dryer in the garage for your use. Also an iron and ironing board. But... remember that you are on holiday. Accept the odd crease. It's OK.

to cook or not to cook?

There's a fully fitted kitchen in the barn, however with several dining options in Pembridge plus a dozen or more pubs and restaurants within a few miles, the biggest problem may be choosing which one to go to next. If you are set on cooking (which is fine too) then you can stock up on most groceries at Ye Olde Steppes in the village. They also have much wine...

woof

Market House Barn is for couples only (sorry, no families) but you are welcome to bring your canine family member with you. Just be considerate in cleaning up and - for the sake of other guests - not letting them sleep on the people-bed. I've got old towels for muddy paws and there's a hose in the garden...

cars, bikes, feet

Access to the barn is through the garage. You can park in there, or if you have brought bikes, then you can store them there and park on the drive. There is a standard 13A socket in the garage if you have an electric vehicle and want to charge it. Payment for charging is via an honesty box. If you remove shoes before entering you can appreciate the feel of the lovely oak floors throughout. Ahhhhh....

any questions

I'm currently using AirBnB as the booking platform, so following the link from the booking page here should give you ideas of availability and pricing. If you have any other questions, please use the contact page. That's questions about the barn and Market House. If you're hoping for winning lottery numbers I can't help you I'm afraid.

thank you

You staying in the barn, here at Market House, helps me maintain the 16th century main house. That entails a lot of work as custodian for future generations. So, thank you.
